Vestibule Without Control Panel and Heat

The Fortress Vestibule accepts (2) 50-watt electric heaters, which mount to the underside of the Vestibule Pan. These heaters are controlled by a digital thermostat installed in the weather-tite Control Box. The Control Box actually mounts to the Foundation, and heater wiring passes from the Control Box through the back of the Vestibule to the heaters.
Without this heating system, the Vestibule is a better “bottom board” than the standard Langstroth hive type. Mice, large hornets can’t enter the Vestibule Entrance/Exit Slots, and the Slots are covered by the Awning above and the Take-off/Landing Board below. This makes it unlikely that water, wind and snow can get into the Vestibule. Also, the Slots are 7-7/8″ above the bottom of the Vestibule, and when a Foundation is installed below, the Slots are about 19″ above the ground. Therefore, mud, insects, dirt, water and snow cannot get into the Slots.
